MantisNet Selected for the 5G Open Innovation Lab

Enables 5G technology innovators to harness cloud native observability to get visibility into ephemeral resources such as topology, inventory, protocol metadata, and encrypted session visibility to improve the reliability, availability, security and performance of 5G network operations.

RESTON, VA – March 31, 2021 – MantisNet, a leading detection and response software company that simplifies the process to access and extract actionable intelligence in real-time, today announced that MantisNet has been selected for the 5G Open Innovation Lab. MantisNet will work closely with the Lab’s founding partners including Intel, T-Mobile, Amdocs, NASA, Dell Technologies, VMware, F5 and others to help develop and deploy best practices for instrumenting 5G cloud native networks for complete observability in the RAN, MEC and Core.

MantisNet will leverage the Lab’s resources, knowledge and connections to drive the development of best practices and deployment of interoperable and vendor agnostic solutions for 5G cloud native observability.  Cloud native observability, performed by the MantisNet CVFSM platform, instruments and supports event correlation of the infrastructure down to the kernel level to access and inspect related network, application and network functions to generate real-time ephemeral topology, protocol (NF) metadata, encrypted session visibility to enable complete visibility and attribution for 5G security and performance needs. Know the resources causing the network events.

“5G networks are the hub of software innovation at the moment. Organizations deploying service provider and enterprise 5G technology are embracing microservices architectures and containerized environments from the MEC to the core to meet the network requirements that deliver the 5G consumer applications. Trying to leverage legacy tools introduces a myriad of obstacles that are often-times impossible to overcome from a non-cloud native perspective. These 5G infrastructure must be instrumented for complete visibility of the various network function interfaces including the SBI, UPF and MEC interfaces with open APIs to get at the critical data needed to address any performance and security issues in these new environments. Working with the 5G Open Innovation Lab will help us validate and develop the best practices for industry to understand and benefit from.”

Peter Dougherty, CEO Mantis Networks

“The 5G OI Lab is an extraordinary opportunity for developers to work directly with technology and business leaders to design and bring to life their vision and dreams for new 5G applications,” said Jim Brisimitzis, managing partner of the 5G OI Lab.  “We are building a true collaborative ecosystem that will bring knowledge, resources and capital together to change the 5G world in profound ways.”

Jim Brisimitzis, General Partner of the 5G Open Innovation Lab

About MantisNet

MantisNet develops Software Defined Network (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) network intelligence solutions that provide businesses and governments real-time network monitoring solutions, for 100G speeds and beyond. MantisNet’s solutions better enable network teams to monitor, manage and engineer the increase in network traffic flows they’re experiencing compared to traditional packet brokers, firewalls and event management solutions. We offer end-to-end visibility through wire-speed network monitoring and protocol analysis (from the L2 to L7 layers) and provide the capability for real-time engineering and remediation to act on network threats such as operational issues, threats, fraud, and malicious activities, either manually or autonomously. Our solutions are deployed at leading telecom, service providers, NEM labs and government sites. We work to make network intelligence actionable for a broad range of DevOps, network and application performance testing, streaming analytics, and cyber security applications.
