MantisNet Announces the Next-Generation of the Reconfigurable Frame Processor, the RFP-NG

The RFP-NG empowers DevOps, NetOps and SecOps teams to deliver real-time high performance monitoring, traffic management and remediation at network speeds up to 100G and beyond.

RESTON, Va. – Oct. 24, 2018 – MantisNet, a leading developer of Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) – based network monitoring solutions, today announced the availability of the next-generation Reconfigurable Frame Processor (RFP), the RFP-NG.

The RFP-NG delivers unparalleled real-time capabilities to monitor, manage and secure network traffic at speeds up to 100G and beyond. With an innovative and flexible approach to data-plane programming, advanced instrumentation and packet processing at its core, the RFP-NG supersedes purpose-built packet brokers, load balancers, and firewalls. More than just an “identify and alert” platform, the RFP-NG can take action on network threats with an open, “vendor agnostic” approach to management and monitoring that simplifies deployment with third-party applications and analytic workflows. With the RFP-NG, DevOp, NetOp and SecOp teams finally have the end-to-end visibility and the ability to manage network traffic flows at speeds of up to 100G and beyond.

“The explosion in volume and velocity of data that businesses depend on for-day-to-day operations, go to market and cyber defense has resulted in a critical need for solutions that can keep up with those demands as well as increase productivity while reducing risks. With the RFP-NG, MantisNet empowers organizations with the information and tools they need to successfully address those challenges and adapt to the future,” says Peter Dougherty, CEO MantisNet.

The RFP-NG solution consists of MantisNet software applications running on a P4-programmable SDN platform to provide next-generation packet broker (NGPB), flow-aware load balancing, advanced telemetry and more. It takes advantage of the advanced capabilities of the Barefoot Tofino™ chipset that provides 3.2Tb/s (32 x 100G) or 6.4Tb/s (64 x 100G) of bandwidth at network speeds of - 10G, 25G, 40G, 50G or 100G. With a programmable match-action pipeline architecture, the RFP-NG supports a wide variety of functions including service chaining, streaming telemetry, filtering, de-encapsulation, load balancing and per-packet visibility with nanosecond precision Barefoot Smart Programmable Real-time In-band Network Telemetry – Barefoot SPRINTTM as well as Yang model-driven management. Additionally, the RFP-NG architecture provides investment protection and flexibility by supporting MantisNet software applications that can be loaded onto systems to accommodate new functions when and where they are needed.

“Barefoot Tofino with its P4-programmable pipeline and the Barefoot SPRINT unique set of telemetry features are enabling our partners and customers to build the next-generation networking systems which are solving critical limitations faced by today’s high-speed networks,” stated Roberto Mari, Director, Product Management, Advanced Applications at Barefoot Networks. “Network operators, as well as data center and cloud service providers, are deploying 100G, soon 400G, to keep up with the exponentially increasing data traffic and need platforms to provide per-packet, nanosecond scale visibility, and control. MantisNet has built their next-generation packet broker using our technology enabling them to deliver per-packet and real-time insights into customers' infrastructure.”

“Having precise visibility and control of network traffic is fundamentally important and critical to any enterprise. Our solutions provide the most flexible and advanced capabilities for identifying, filtering, engineering/editing and feeding traffic flows to new or existing analytics and management workflows,” added Dougherty. “MantisNet is focused on addressing the world’s need for real-time intelligence and remediation that businesses and governmental organizations need to continuously operate and make decisions on current and future network traffic at speeds up to 100G and beyond.”

About Barefoot Networks

Barefoot Networks launched in 2016 after two years of developing technology that built switch silicon with a forwarding plane that is defined in software while not compromising on performance. Barefoot empowers network owners and their infrastructure partners to design, optimize, and innovate to meet their specific requirements and gain competitive advantage. In combining the P4 programming language with fast programmable switches, Barefoot has also created an ecosystem for compilers, tools, and P4 programs to make P4 accessible to anybody. Barefoot Networks is headquartered in Silicon Valley and is backed by strategic investors including Alibaba, Dell Technology Capital, Google Inc., Goldman Sachs Principal Strategic Investments, Hewlett Packard Pathfinder, and Tencent, and by premier venture capital firms including Andreessen Horowitz, Lightspeed, and Sequoia Capital. About MantisNet

MantisNet develops Software Defined Network (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) network intelligence solutions that provide businesses and governments real-time network monitoring solutions, for 100G speeds and beyond. MantisNet’s solutions better enable network teams to monitor, manage and engineer the increase in network traffic flows they’re experiencing compared to the preceding generation of packet brokers, firewalls, load balancers and event management solutions. MantisNet combines end-to-end visibility, wire-speed network monitoring and protocol analysis (from L2 to L7) with the ability to perform real-time traffic engineering and remediation against operational issues, security threats, fraud, and malicious activities, either manually or autonomously. Our solutions are deployed at leading telecom, service providers, NEM labs and government sites. We work to make network intelligence actionable for a broad range of DevOps, network and application performance testing, streaming analytics, and cyber security applications.
